Christine Vanderwyk

Christine trained in Visual Art and Art Education at Sydney College of the Arts and City Art Institute, B.A.Ed.Art.

Her work looks at the landscape in an expressive, symbolic and abstract manner via painting and mixed media, with an emphasis on colour, feel and atmosphere, hinting at the bursting vibrancy of life.

She opened Kalulu’s Art Studio in Forresters Beach1996, a vibrant art making hub where children and adults enjoy a relaxed approach to serious art making. She moved the Studio to Sawtell in 2016.

Christine exhibits in group shows and has had two large exhibitions in Gosford Regional Gallery, 2009 and a large solo show 2012 also at GRG. She was part of the 5 Lands Walk, En Plein Air and Ephemera shows for many years.

Her last solo show, ‘Buzzing Landscape’ was held at Nexus Gallery, Bellingen in 2020.

She is currently developing a body of work exploring abstraction, the mark and the environment ,havingspent time as artist in residence at The Art Squat, The Foundations, Portland in January 2023.
