VIRGINIA WHITEHEAD

Art has always been a part of my life. My formal training in art
is an Art Certificate from Newcastle TAFE and a Diploma in Art
from Alexander Mackie College Sydney.

I have worked as a Costume designer and maker and this has
influenced my art with a touch of theatrical in some of my works
I explore the use of intricate decoration, textures, jewellery,
found objects and gold and metallic paints, paper, gold leaf and
copper patina and rust. I sometimes cut up and use pieces of
discarded art works to make new ones or start with small
artworks then combine them into a larger artwork each being an
artwork in its own right. I like to use the female form in many of
my creations.

My art comes from a deep place within myself leaving a little of
