Edna Adamson was born in Dundee Scotland on 26 January 1936, where she was also educated and trained as a nurse.
Whilst a student nurse, she married a local engineering student at St. Andrews university. Her new husband, Allan, then went on to join the Royal Air Force, meaning that Edna lived in various locations in the UK and also Cyprus. During this time her family grew to include three sons and always at least two Siamese cats.
At the end of their RAF life in 1981, Edna and Allan emigrated to Australia, living in Canberra, Batemans Bay and since 2005, Valla Beach.
Whilst always a keen artist, the scenery of Australia inspired Edna to take her interest more seriously, initially painting landscapes of Australia. However, this soon grew to include other landscapes, such as her native Scotland, Malaysia where she lived for a short time, as well as other subjects.
Sadly, Edna passed away in January 2023, but a few of her paintings have been made available to the gallery as a means of maintaining her connection to this beautiful part of NSW.
