A fellow student at the National Art School Sydney, asked our sculpture teacher, ‘How do you become a successful artist?’
He replied,
“Just keep on making art. “
I have been continuously making and exhibiting art since 1988. The success is, that I keep on keeping on. If it was for money or fame, I would have let go of it a long time ago.
My practice involves different mediums, as well as singing, song writing and music.
My recent work, ‘I am you, you become we, we are one long prayer’, combines photography and sound engineering skills.
Through expressing myself, exploring, playing and manifesting, I can at times tap into the collective unconscious. It is through feeling of the changes within myself that I notice the symbiotic relationship to the coming events of the world.
I seek the truth, beauty and oneness in the common experience of my everyday life. I seek it in objects and their relationships and I seek it in my inner world. I am searching constantly, looking, listening to find the perfect balance and harmony between all things and where they naturally sit. I am looking for meaning, I am looking for the essence of presence. Even in the darkness of empty space, I know it is full of pure potential and it allows everything else to be.
In my work I acknowledge the perfect design of creation that creates perpetual motion. It is the sacred cycle of birth, growing, dying and death, not just once, but continuously throughout life in all things.
