Liz Challis grew up surrounded by Art.
Her grandfather, her father and two aunts were all artists, and as her father was also an Art Teacher, Liz was encouraged to draw and paint from a very early age. Now, her 3 sisters are also artists, her husband is a sculptor and her son is a ceramicist, so it is a family of artists.
When Liz left school she trained as a Graphic Design artist, and successfully worked in this field. Later she swapped careers and became an antique dealer, and put her painting on hold, but reconnected to painting in 2000. She quickly recognized that this was where her passion lay.
Now, she lives her life between two countries, spending 6 months in Australia and 6 months in France, delighting in the special light of Southern France, where she and her husband have a house. Her studio is on the 4th floor of their 16th century house and looks out onto the market place, with the mountains in the distance above the roof tops- the perfect place to paint.
She regularly exhibits in Australia and France and her work is represented in collections in Australia, France, Scotland and England.
