The title for this exhibition quotes the poet T.S. Eliot:
‘We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive at where we started
And know the place for the first time.’
The exhibition’s title ‘…to arrive..’ draws from concepts on time, exploration and renewal.
Terry Yates has written poetry for over 50 years and his interest in themes of time and relationships are demonstrated in his 2022 book of poems called, fittingly (to arrive).
Amongst its other symbols, this exhibition uses a biplane, initially stranded on the moon, as a motif of travel, journeying and arrival.
Geoff McSkimming’s works mirror the poetic narrative of Terry Yates in a language of 2D/3D material choices, combinations – and titles.
